WELCOME

Hi,

Thinking Of Selling Your Business?

Whatever your situation with your current business, selling it will be one of the most important things you’ll ever do, because unlike virtually every other business decision you’ve made over the year, you’ll only do this once. You get a single chance to put a price tag on possibly years and years of effort – and once you sign the sales documents, it’s over. We have been successfully negotiating business sales for over 20 years so call us now for a free no obligation appraisal and leave nothing to chance.

GENERATION DEVELOPMENT LIMITED

Housing Development JV (50%)

Generation Developments is a Tauranga based group building company which has grown over the last ten years from a two-man band building 30 houses per year to a team of 35 building around 200 residential houses per year. As part of their further expansion, Generation Developments is seeking 50:50 Joint Venture partners to bring Generation homes to the rest of the North Island. The package includes 50% ownership of the joint venture company, full training and support, a showhome, and a salary of $100,000 per year.

Building industry research shows that around ninety percent of people who build their own home wouldn't do it again - it's too stressful, there are too many hidden costs, too many quality issues, and too many hold-ups. Generation Developments has attempted to take away the frustrations and risks, to provide customers with an enjoyable building experience, and certainty in the uncertain world of building a new home. It must be working because around a quarter of all Generation Developments customers have built with them before.

What regularity, what size, type, and cost of ad and what features will you use? Will it be black and white or colour? Obviously there are lots of decisions to be made and both price and promotion are extremely important. Get your broker to show you examples of successful advertising campaigns he has used in the past, together with some comparative sales data of similar type businesses, so that you can make an informed decision as to price and promotion.

BUSINESS SELLING TIPS

Price and Promotion

There is a saying that the two reasons a business won’t sell are price and promotion. If your promotion is right and the business doesn’t sell, then you know it is too expensive. If you accept that it has been on the market long enough for all potentially interested parties to have noticed the marketing and it is still not sold, then it comes back to price.

If you believe the price is right and the business doesn’t sell, then it is probably your marketing and advertising campaign that is at fault.

The Advertising Mix

What mixture of the following should you adopt and how much will this cost?

  • Local newspaper

  • National newspaper

  • Internet

  • Direct Mail

  • Brochure Drop

  • Specialist Industry Publications
